Pockets, Princes & New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). With the help of FIT and their exhibition Pockets to Purses: Fashion + Function we discover an old Meyer & Mortimer garment in New York City and put pockets firmly back on our gratitude list.
It has been one hundred days since the UK voted to leave the European Union. During this time, an enormous amount of discussion has taken place on how this might affect business in the UK and its relationships overseas. With very little debate in the media on how this might affect Savile Row, we gathered the views of Brian Lewis and Malcolm Plews - who have between them over a century's worth of bespoke tailoring experience. While considering the issues and pitfalls around predicting the future, we look ahead to life around Savile Row post-Brexit.
Welcome to the new Meyer and Mortimer website. It went live today, on the 9th June 2016. For those familiar with our old site, you will recognise some of the old content here along with the new. We are very proud of it indeed but not proud enough to accept that, unlike the garments we make, that the new website may not be as close to perfection as we would like. If anyone notices a missing link, a misspelling even (perish the thought!), do please get in touch with your humble website builder Jason at:
We do hope you enjoy exploring the new website and its new features. We will be adding content and new pages in the near future so - to use an analogue term in a digital age - stay tuned!
No one really wants to think about death too much in the West. Somewhere along the line we were taught to stay schtum on the subject and push it into the shady corners of taboo. Yet death, awaits us all. It’s an absolute certainty and with death comes life and in life we try to bring as much colour as possible.
