Tailored Stories: An Oral History of Savile Row

On Wednesday the 24th June, the much anticipated launch of the film, Tailored Stories, took place at The London College of Fashion at John Prince’s Street. The film was put together with 17 students from the Kensington & Chelsea College and The London Collge of Fashion in conjunction with arts and education charity, Digital Works, with backing from the Heritage Lottery.

As part of the Chivas Regal Open Row event, members of the Savile Row Bespoke Association opened their doors to invited guests with each house offering unique presentations that showcase their history, workmanship and individual style. Activities included pattern cutting workshops, wet shave demonstrations, shoe shining services and style advice for the modern gentleman.

Recently Meyer & Mortimer hosted a fundraising event in conjunction with The Army Museum focusing on our shared history and interest in military uniforms. Meyer and Mortimer have a long history of military outfitting with founder, Jonathan Meyer, setting up the business to cater for this, along with bespoke tailoring, in the 1790s.
